Job Story: There are changes that need to be made......communications operator for the county sherif

As a former Emergency Dispatcher myself, I totally agree. I could handle the job up to and including Hostage Negotiations, but Management is what finally drove me to quit. It was no longer worth the detrimental health effects on me.

The good old boys (or more properly the fat old bitch) network was running very strong at my Department. All of these people were retired on duty with absolutely no ethics or morals. Not something that I ever thought I would see in Law Enforcement.

Very disappointing......

I swear, we must have worked for the same sheriffs office. It is not about law enforcement, and its not about helping the community. Its about a handfull of assholes, liars, and manipulators who have built a career on lies and BS, and their only goal now is to line their pockets for retirement and not piss off the county commission, at whatever cost. I won't even go so far as to give them the respect of good ol boys because they're not. They are just selfish, ignorant, uneducated pigs, who for all practical purposes have never even been out of the county. You want to talk about lawsuits ?? Good idea, but problem is, they can afford to string it out much better than we can in attorney fees. So thats not the way to go. The way to do it is to destroy the administration at the next election by going public with your situations. Just have your ducks in a row like I do. For example, if you complained to your supervisor that your equal opportunity rights have been violated, and you were not being afforded a positive work environment because you were a male, and you were told that by your coworker, and your boss responds, "well, it probably never will be a positive work environment." You should have documented it. Even if it is something basic like October of 2001, in the hallway, next to the equal opportunity poster, that comment was made. That was the day I started documenting.
