Job Story: NURSING STUDENT 1st YEAR!!!

I also entered nursing in my first year of college but I dropped out and switched because I just could not handle the work. I sacrificed so much (work, extra-curriculars) just to keep up and still didn't feel satisfied. I hated the politics and the occassional butt-kissing that happened in my nursing group. Fucking bitches! Do what you love and DON'T EVER do what your family wants or is pressuring you to do. It is your life and you're the one who has control over it.

Absolutely. Good thing you got out when you did - I got out after a few years as an RN - after losing 40 lbs. that i Couldn't afford to lose; and having a nervous breakdown - I'm now in a new career in project management, make 3 x what I did as a nurse, don't get my hands dirty, and work M-F 8 to 5 or 6 PM.

I'll never go back. No way. The state can take my RN license and shove it.

I'm happy and healthy now. You do the same!

I am a 3rd year nursing student, and I just want to tell you that as far as I know, school is not the hard part. As long as you are mature enough to sacrifice the party scene for a while, you will do fine. I currently have a 3.9 and, while tests can be a little stressful, the classroom component is the easy part. I just started my clinical rotations and am starting to get a taste of what it can actually be like. Im scared and a little overwhelmed. I stumbled on this site when i was searching to see if anyone felt the same way. I read alot of stories about people that hate their jobs. Im afraid to end up in a carreer that I hate. Im sticking to it for now, but honestly, these people stories are scaring the crap out of me...Im hoping that there are actually some nurses out there that actually do not regret their decision to go into nursing. It would be a relief to read a story like that, so i could feel like perhaps this wasnt a mistake after all.
