Job Story: Problem Patient and the worthless CNA...nurse
Certainly hope you are not insinuating most CNAs or LPNs are lazy. I've been an LPN for quite a few years, in quite a few environments. My experience has always been that the LPNs work circles around the RNS. Where I work now, the RNs are idiots and lazy. We LPNs teach them their jobs and they turn around and refuse to refer to us as nurses. I have to wonder what quality of education many of the younger RNs received. They are actually scary. I would be afraid to have many of them taking care of me or a family member.
Would never say all. In fact, I went to school many people wishing to become an LPN - we had the same teachers, we just had a few more courses and a longer stay in "boot camp." And while no nurse will ever know everything....that is why we ask questions, research, and continue our education....to provide quality care for our patients.
Several years of nursing has shown me that the vast majority of CNAs are extremely lazy. They also tend to get defensive if asked to do what they are paid to do by nursing staff. I have frequently witnessed nurses deferring to these unlicensed personnel because they will gang up on the nurse and tell management that the nurse is too difficult to work for! And the worst part is that management will side with the CNAs more often than not. In many cases, the CNAs basically run the nursing units. It is a crazy situation for sure.
