Our group members (Primarily located in Greater Toronto Area - GTA and 5/6 members from other parts of Ontario) has similar bad experiences like others (described on the above threads). Our group members tried to get out of the contract within the 5 day period and after. They are unsuccessful because they have not contacted lawyer in the early stage. Unfortunately there is no specific law in Ontario deals with Timeshares. The good news is Ontario Govt. has passed 10 days cool off period law on timeshares and will come in force effective July 31st, 2005. This law doesn't cover retroactive cases, only on going forward.

The members who stuck with contracts, maintenance fees, the only option to get out from obligations is to fight in the court. Our group approached few lawyers (We all have good cases) and in next few days we will finalize one. It is safe and cheap to fight in the court as a group. This keeps legal costs to very minimum and very high chances to get back our money plus possible damages. If any one is thinking of cancelling the contracts please reply & we can provide the lawyer details. You can take it from there.

Don’t get me wrong this timeshare could be great for some people who fully understand and know 100% what they are getting into. There are many other companies genuinely sell very good travel/timeshare products. Unfortunately there are some bad apples. We are only concerned about poor people who trapped by misrepresentation, signed contracts by unethical/high pressure sales practices.

Contact a litigation lawyer/seek legal help. He will draft a cancellation letter and send it to Timeshare company. If you do this 99% of the cases will get the money back minus $375 administration fee.

I was a victim of Geo Group, GHF Fairfield/Time share/ travel scam/ holiday scam also: My case was same and similar to yours. The fact that they invited us for 2 hour meeting and moved us from room to room so we did not even know how to get out and leave and being from such a polite culture and never dealt with such rude telemarketers with did not no we can scream and yell. Our Persian sales rep did not tell us anything about the contract. he kept saying wait wait for every question we asked and continued on showing the book of exotic places that are not even real. Most places Fairfield has location is remote places and up popular areas as I found out later. I kept telling him I have relatives in every country. the reason we have not traveled because we can't afford it. My mother is elderly I have not seen her for 12 years. He was like so signing this will make it easy. They don't even have anything in Iran at all. I told him so this is for ticket he said yes yes let’s go to CEO's speech then we continue and he kept oh so sad you two couples never traveled. You are not enjoying your life and he kept facing my husband saying you are not taking her anywhere what kind of a man you are; you have to travel at least once a year. We over FREEDOM OF TRAVEL. as soon as we start asking about obligation or anything he would say wait wait............
they held us there from 9-4 and did not let us leave we were literally trapped in that building moved from room to room and not being able to do anything. I said we never had honeymoon we have no money he would say we have so many packages it would fit you. I too have been scammed by GEO.I stopped the payments and have had collection agencies calling and threatining.This week I had the Canadian Credit Bureau call me ,has anyone had this happen to them and if so what have you done about it.

Dear Rashid,

I am fully sympathetic with you. I am also a victim of this same thing. I was new to Canada at that time and I know 3 others who were almost forced to decide and not given an opportunity to go thru a 18 page contract. For me, I tried to cancel the contract , but one Ms Shadia spoke very rudely to us and forced us to buy it. I also took aid of CLASP but no luck.

It seems Candian government is not bothered to listen to immigrant problems and are puppets in the hands of US govt.

Fairfield has done a clever study of rising Canadin dollar and gullible immigrants coupled with psycological manipulative tactics like forcing you to sign on something before 11 pm at night. I do not know where we can air our resentment.

Terry Flores, could you tell us how Starpoint and Geo rectified your situation?

The wave of lawsuits will not stop in Canada either and will continue to grow if GEO won't rectify other offended people's situations.

Tell Muldoon he would be wise to advise his colleagues to act in the same ethical manner on this side of the border, otherwise there will be more and more people that will most likely not just go to court but will have the GEO story slapped all over national newspapers, radio and television out of frustration.

Some people are quiet volcanos. Left alone to brew for a long time, they will most likely erupt much worse that you have, or more potent versions of a Terry Flores would start populating GEO's history. GEO would also be dragging the names of their affiliates like Fairfield Resorts, RCI and Cendant, and exposing them to the same possible shame and disrepute in various Canadian courts of law and in the eyes of the Canadian public. Now, how good is that for business.

This is an opinion / suggestion that should be taken seriously by GEO if they want to avoid the worse publicity that could ever be experienced by a company that's supposed to be reputable and morally responsible. Until ethical standards is restored, A TSUNAMI OF LAWSUITS AGAINST GEO MIGHT BE UNSTOPPABLE. THE WAVE HAS BEGUN, AS WELL AS LITTLE RIPPLES HERE AND THERE IN SMALL CLAIMS, SO ITS UP TO GEO TO STOP THE MOMENTUM.

Holy crap I'm so glad I found this website!! I was looking at Geo's website and looking up contact information, 'cause ever since contacting them a little while ago (stupid me!), they've been calling my house non-stop, and droning on and on and on, and I want to call and complain. They even talk to my kids when they happen to answer the phone (they're under 10yrs old), asking them questions, etc. NOT COOL! ..but if I can get Geo Holidays to behave and stop calling on the phone, I might still go in for their presentation... What'ya think?

I was called by Mina (as she claimed) 416-964-2158 x247 on a 7pm evening saying i've won 4 vacations plus a finalist candidate to win a Hummer H3. It's pretty much similar to other's ugly experiences and she keeps on emphasizing to come in her 90 min meeting to bring along your wife and no kids and remember my photo IDs. The meeting will be June 1st at one of the branch at etobicoke.

Yes, it is the worst experience for the past 2 decades. You cannot imagine how much pain harrassment and stess we have suffered since we signed the stupid contract. We don't want other poltential victims suffer the same as we did.
