priceline.com

Has anyone used this company to purchase their airline tickets and if so how
was the experience? Can you get 5 people on one flight at a time? What
type of planes do they use?

Thanks

Re: priceline.com

They list the airlines on their website they use, it can be any of those
flights.

if you are using them for a cruise, make sure you get in a day early and
leave a day after.

If not, they may put you on a flight after your ship leaves, and have you
leaving before you can get to the airport. For a cruise that's not the best
idea.

Remember, you have no choice and can make no changes once you click submit.

I use priceline often for hotel rooms ... and things work out at least
as good as expected ... the same for car rentals ...
I'll never use priceline for airplanes having heard many horror stories
.... my sister in particular who spent 12 hours flying from PA to Las
Vegas ... I forget the exact itinerary but I recall the first 6 hours
had 2 stops and was still east of the Mississippi ...

Their new service picking the flights might very well be palitable ...

I won't hesitate to use them for hotels and car rentals, but won't use
them for airline reservations ever again. Before I booked a simple
itinerary from Newark, NJ to Indianapolis (about a two hour flight) I
checked around to see what was available out there for this trip. Going
into the bidding process at Priceline, I knew that there were many
seats on many non-stops and also plenty of one-stop itineraries. It was
a while ago, so I don't remember the specifics exactly, but I think I
ended up with a flight that left at 9:00am and didn't get me into Indy
until 10:00pm - over twelve hours of travel time. Don't even remember
where they had me going, but it was just nuts.

I actually "fought" with them for a refund. I know that once you bid,
you're committed to the purchase, but I really felt that they had gone
beyond delivering a reasonable product. After a lot of back & forth, I
was finally, offered a "one time only" refund, which is all I wanted,
anyway.

Since then, I have used them for cars and hotels with great success, so
they did keep me as a customer for breaking the rules and refunding me.
But, I'd suggest, unless your travel plans are really flexible, I'd
stay clear of booking air through them.

I use them all the time for hotel rooms and always get my money's worth.
Maybe 20 uses so far, and nary a problem. Usually pleasantly surprised.

If you use them for air, you can specify how many stops you're willing to
make. We've only used them twice for air and that was about 4 years ago.
Both time, worked out well. Don't use them if you need a certain time of
day and/or up against a deadline or ship departure. On the other hand if,
say, you were leaving from New Orleans, you could fly Priceline there a
couple of days early and see the town..

They use major airlines, and always jets unless you tell them you don't mind
a non-jet.

One time we used them for 4 people going to NYC. The only hitch was that
two of us got upgraded to Business Class. My wife and I and 2 kids..
Guess who moved up??

Bruce
