Last Minute Cruise Question - Single Stipend Query

I can get a week off and want to take a relatively inexpensive cruise.
Something like
5 nights & 6 days for $700. I am wondering... If I know a cruise isn't
booked &
wait until 24 or 48 hours before boarding will the cruise line give me a
single
without charging me an extra singles fee or stipend. That is can I assume
better a single at half the couple's rate rathan than an empty cabin
generating no revenue? Any suggestions or hints
on the above will be appreciated. I would like
a single without having to pay the extra fee
for same.

Josh

You assume that they will have rooms. You will probably have to book
3 days in advance. I know that on Carnival, the 1A cat rooms (upper &
lower) have a single rate of 150% as opposed to 200% for the other
categories.

All you can do is ask. They might say yes, they might say no.
