This Newsgroup

I must say this is about one of the friendliest newsgroups on
Usenet. It's also very informative. I jumped on Charles for
responding to a posting that I made to someone else and later
found out that Charles is quite a regular here and in fact,
using that Nym "Charles", this is his only newsgroup. I owe
him an apology. I'm just so conditioned to some other newsgroups
that have a few smart asses. Zoomby Woof knows what I mean.

Anyway I want to put forth a blanket thanks to everyone that has
responded to my questions. My last cruise was in 98 to Bermuda and
I was in this newsgroup then to garner information and I posted
an end of cruise report. I just recently came back having booked
another cruise.

Reason for my sig is due to the fact that there is a person that
loves to use my name to make people believe that I'm the one
posting. He even went so far as to forge my real email address
which is my owned domain address. I complained and I think I
got results as he hasn't been around for awhile. If you are
ever in doubt if I posted something, check the header and you
will see alt.net as the posting server.

Happy Easter.

You are right, there are many friendly folk and many willing to provide
info, answer questions and help. And like other newsgroups there are
some who are not helpful.

Carnival Victory, September 11th out of Miami, Western Carib.
I wanted a longer cruise but my wife isn't ready for one yet. I want a
Panama Canal 15 day cruise, possibly a re-positioning cruise when the east
coast ships move over to the west coast for summer cruising. I would love
to
leave from New York and end up in Vancouver or Seattle.

HEY Fella, watch the "age" comments. I may be 63 but I'm young at
heart. And topless pools do nothing for me anymore. We selected this
cruise because of it's price. Guess you get what you pay for. At
$1295 for both of us in a balcony cabin (traded in our timeshare week),
it wasn't a bad deal at all.

As for sea sickness, I don't get sea sick. When I see other passengers
getting sick, I think "more food for me". I stay away from sick passengers.
As long as the cruise makes some stops along the way, my wife won't mind.
Right now she is thinking about money since we both retired last year.
But we can afford it, she just doesn't know it yet.

Yes it stops in Cozumel. We are thinking about taking some Spanish
lessons, not only for the cruise, but for when we do travel to Spanish
speaking countries. I did bring up to her that we should take some
snorkeling classes and do some if we get the chance. I'm looking into it.

When I cruise, I just want to cruise and enjoy the trip. I want to relax
more so than hop around all over the place. I'll find me a favorite spot
on the ship and kinda hang there so my wife will know where to look for
me. Maybe by the titty pool? In ports we do get off and walk around
and shop. The Carnival Victory is a lot larger than the Norweigean Dream
(Dreamward) that we went to Burmuda on, so we will have fun looking
around the ship as well.

Hey, ZF, while you were away, Carnival has really upped the ante on food.
Most, almost all, come back truly amazed.

Breasts make you seasick? Must be the up and down motion when the person

I have to disagre with this, DH and I are 62 yrs old and just sailed
the Conquest in nov. 04. We did not find the ship to be animal central
at all. The only real problem we had was the smoke in all the lounges
and in the casino.

The food is about the
> lowest quality of all of the lines as well if you are an eater.

Again I have to disagree with you(grin). Our cruise on the Conquest
was our 14th cruise, we have sailed on Carnival, Princess, RCCL,
Celebrity and Disney. If you saw my review of our Rhapsody sailing,
you would know that we like good food. The food on the Conquest was
the best we have ever had on any ship. Carnival has really improved
the food quality and the service was also first rate. DH is was a new
diabetic on that sailing and our waiter took excellant care of him. So
to wrap up my ramble, RCCL is the lowest on the food chain and
Carnival is now on the top.

Morning Becca, Is smoke less of a problem on the Spirit class ships,
then it was on the Conquest?

While on the Carnival Pride in 2002 with Arline's group we were sitting
on the Lido deck on the non smoking side. At the next table a young man
lit up a cigarette. One of the crew - security - approached him and
advised him smoking not permitted "here".
I have cruised on HAL, Princess, NCL, Celebrity and found the Pride to
have the best food, dining room and the buffett, of all

Thanks Sunny! Do you know how the smoke was in the lounges and the
casino. On the Conquest the lounges were small and didn't have any no
smoking areas.

I can't remember too much about the casino and lounges. I do know that
most of the casinos are smoky except for EOS.
They have a small area for us non smokers that is/was strictly enforced

Very interesting that EOS has a nosmoking section in its casino. I
like that very much!! On all of our cruises the casino has been smoky,
but on the Conquest it was worse.

Sue, I think that it was the passenger mix on the Conquest that particular
voyage....Just happened to have more smokers on that cruise, I think..I was
on the Pride with Sunny & Bernie and the cigarette smoking was not like it
was when we were with you & Kevin on the Conquest.
I think with ages, ethnic groups, smokers, etc, you cannot predict which
ship will have the most, until you are on the ship..the same ship will be a
different experience the next voyage it takes.

I agree that part of it was the passenger mix, but that didn't solve
our problem of the lounges not having any non-smoking sections. I know
we said we wouldn't sail Carnival again because of the smoke, maybe I
should modify that and say I won't sail them unless the lounges have
at least a small no-smoking section.

Can you tell that I badly need a cruise(grin).

Smoke was not a problem for me, but I never went into the casino. The
only bar I went into was a smoke free bar, so it is hard for me to tell.

Not Becca, but the second hand smoke on the Miracle, which is Spirit
class was the worst I experienced on any cruise I have been on. If that
had been my first cruise it probably would have been my last.

On the Miracle the only smoke free bar was the large Atruim Bar. All
the other bar lounges allow smoking everywhere. And the cigar bar opens
right out into a major passage.

Remind me to ask the next poster off the Conquest whether they found it the
dame way! ;-)
If they divided the casino in smoking/non-smoking areas, it would be my luck
that the winning slots would all be in the smoking section!

Sue, are you sure that you won't be going on a cruise before the MOAGC? You
were very adamant about not sailing on Carnival because of the smoke, when
we were on her ...now you are giving them a *tiny* lee-way with "as long as
they at least have a small no-smoking section!" I think the food and the
service that we got in the dining room might prompt you to re-consider???
;-)

Thanks Becca. When I visit the casino, I make my donation for the
night and then move on to one of the lounges to listen to music. On
the MOAGC-2 smoke shouldn't be an issue and I will drag you into the
casino with me. We don't have to make a donation, we can watch Jean
and see how she is doing(grin).

Thanks Charles, I know that you and I think the same way about smoke.
