Schiavo's Parents are fucking insane

So here they go, back to the US Supreme Court, where their argument has
already been denied a hearing once. I'm about sick of this entire affair,
but watching the meltdown of these self-righteous boneheads vs. the calm,
steady wisdom of the husband to end his wife's suffering after 15 years of
vegetative agony is strangely satisfying. My only fear is that after the
SCOTUS smacks down the parents' argument yet again, Bush will finalize his
trip down Christian Conservative K00kout Lane and issue an executive order
to reinsert the feeding tube, bypassing both the legislative and judicial
branches of both the federal government and the state of Florida. Once that
precedent is set, the pandora's box can never be re-shut. The Presidency
will become as close to a theocractical dictatorship as has ever occurred in
the history of the United States. The "checks and balances" system will be
dead.

blame the liberals. they started this trend towards federalizing everything.

Re: Schiavo's Parents are fucking insane

The only thing I've ever felt towards Terri's parents are disdain after I
learned not too long ago she had a big bulimia problem...brought on by
stress and pressure from family. Having seen overwhelming parental guilt
laced with grief, the best conclusion I can make is that her parents are
only keeping her alive so they don't have to deal with their part in the
loss of their daughter. Tragic, but reality.

And that one will fly at least as well as the Clinton
impeachment. We'll see if either side learned anything useful from
that fiasco.

Tell ya what. I'll just blame whoever does it, regardless of whether they're
liberal conservative. It's just a policy I have. You might consider

What you say is FAR, FAR from reality. These parents believe they are
getting responses from their daughter when they visit while folks who
know nothing about Terri are trying to starve her to death. I will give
you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are simply trolling since

Try learning how to spell "theocratical" before using it in a sentence
next time. Do you see yourself as one of the "enlightened ones" who are
so much smarter than all of us right-which conservative Christian
kooks? If so, you might try a third-grade spelling class before your
next rant-and-rave session.

They care. The husband cares. They just have different views. The parents
are so in love with their daughter they are willing to ignore the fact that
she will never improve or recover and that she is not even responsive.

It's just sad all the way around.

Re: Schiavo's Parents are fucking insane

Predictable as a clock.

Calm, steady wisdom of the husband...lol.

Here is a guy with a common law wife, two children by her and a wife who
just happens to be the recipient of a court settlement designed to pay
for her care and reabilitation should it be possible. He waits to
remember her secret wish to die until the court settlement is reached.
Then he uses her money to hire a lawyer to implement her wish four years
after the event, but days after the settlement. A divorce would be more
simple, but then the money would stay with the wife.

Steady calm wisdom indeed. Yep, steady and calm as a Peterson.

The woman's crazy self-rightous bonehead parents are somewhat
suspicious. She's Catholic and never expressed a wish to be starved to
death or forced to die of thirst to them, her sister or anyone else
without a direct financial interest in her death. But they're religious
so you can't believe anything they say. What's worse, they're willing to
care for her and try the suggested program for rehabiliation.

What a bunch of boneheads.

If the heroic judge allowed a full pet scan or an MIR (after removal of
some implants) then he could establish she was in fact brain dead, but
no he is on a mission and ignores all but one doctor's report, the one
paid for by the husband's lawyer and successfully uses the letter of the
law to prevent an independent medical review for a decade. That's right,
there is no proof of a vegetative state beyond a reasonable doubt. Of
course, since she has committed no crime she get's no automatic appeal.

Yep, I see no reasonable questions here. Starve the bitch to death and
lets get on with our life. Trot out the next carnival show.

Christ, you guys are amazing.

If we want to kill the weak and helpless and apparently we do, let's
just give her a drug and send her on her way into dreamland rather than
a death by starvation or dydration. The human body, frontal lobe or not,
is going to go through a great deal of agony as it shuts down from lack
of water and lack of food. I love the simple mercy of the judge who as
forbidden anyone to give her water orally or even moisten her lips. I
feel reassured to know that after days of suffering the most desperate
kind of deprivation that her last moments will likely be painless
because the body shuts down just before it dies.

I only hope you experience a similar level of kindness and mercy if you
should be so unlucky to have such a steady calm man of wisdom in charge
of you. The comedy continues.

I understand (I heard this on Jay Sekulow Live today, and I think
he mentioned it on the 700 Club, too) that Michael Schiavo may
even be gay. I don't see how you can possibly support a man who

It's like a sandwich, but drier.

Re: Schiavo's Parents are fucking insane

Funny, I heard it was her scumbag husband hounding her that she was fat
- guess it's okay if a liberal, right-to-die punk does it huh?

Terri was already in a vegetative state by 1991.

WHAT KIND OF MONSTER IS HE TO LEAVE HIS WIFE'S SIDE LIKE THAT???

-Poot
Let's ignore the fact that he quit his job and became a nurse so he
could take care of her, and did so for the next six years before
accepting that she was gone.

No. (People in vegetative states cannot file for divorce. And for
Michael to file would be an abrogation of his "til death do us
part" promise, no? Why do you hate the sanctity of marriage so
much?)

Yes.

I never expressed a wish to have my dick sucked by two girls at once
to my parents, that doesn't mean I don't wish for it to happen. I'm
sure you don't share every thought you have with your parents,
either.

Dropping a space station on her would even crueller than letting her
dehydrate! You're a sicko.

No. (Just TOTALLY incorrect.)

Of course, since she has committed no crime nothing needs to be
proven beyond a reasonable doubt, either.

In fact, THIS NEVER HAD TO GO TO COURT AT ALL! Her legally
recognized guardian didn't have to be nice and respect the parents'
objections and turn over his to decision to the court to be made.
But he did.

Make it legal to do so, and somebody will.

No. (Take a fucking biology course.)

I hope the same for you. If you ever get diagnosed as a hopeless
vegetable, I'd rather you suffer terribly for 10-15 days instead of
suffer mildly for forty years.

You let Jesus die. Why not Terri?
