Havana Convention Center Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Havana, Dec 30 (AIN) The Havana Convention Center is celebrating its 25th
anniversary and Cuban President Fidel Castro sent a letter to its employees
recognizing their efforts to provide the services needed for important
international and national events.

In a ceremony held on Wednesday, Convention Center director, Abraham
Maciques, said the facility and the events and fairs held at its
installations contribute to the country's efforts to break Washington's
blockade against the island.

Special awards were given at the celebration to founders of the institution
and appreciation was shown others that have cooperated with the Convention
Center during the last 25 years.

Likewise, the staff at the Convention Center also sent the Cuban leader a
special recognition for being a source of inspiration and permanent presence
in that important institution.

Among the officials attending the anniversary ceremony were the first
secretary of the Communist Party in the city of Havana, Pedro Saez and
Hassan Perez, second secretary of the Young Communist League.
