Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial
board, the Free Arab Voice. (http://www.freearabvoice.org)

Tuesday, 28 December 2004.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance pounds US positions in al-Fallujah. US pushes refugees to
return home hoping thereby to put an end to the fighting.

In a dispatch posted at 12:17am Wednesday morning Mecca time, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that eyewitnesses said that the Iraqi Resistance had
fired about 29 Grad rockets at the US forces in al-Fallujah Tuesday.
Between 1pm and 2pm the Resistance fired about 25 rockets at American
troops, then at 5:30pm Tuesday evening Resistance fighters fired four
more Grad rockets at the Americans. At 7:15pm Tuesday night, Resistance
forces fired four 120mm mortar rounds at the Americans in al-Fallujah.

Witnesses reported observing massive US columns heading towards
al-Fallujah, passing through as-Saqlawiyah. Some of the columns were
made up of 140 US military vehicles.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that at about 10:45pm local
time, the US columns began to enter neighborhoods of al-Fallujah for the
fourth day in a row.

On Monday American soldiers killed two Iraqi youths in al-Fallujah. On
Monday and Tuesday the Americans arrested about 50 Iraqi young men, even
though they had received passes from the US occupation forces allowing
them to enter al-Fallujah to work on their houses. The correspondent
reported that the Americans on Tuesday arrested three Iraqi girls, all
sisters, aged 19, 20 and 21 years. The US forces expelled their father
and their brother and took the girls to an unknown destination. Their
family had been trying to return to their homes in al-Fallujah to survey
the damage that had been done to their house by the US assault.

In general, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent observes, the US
occupation troops are trying to rush families of al-Fallujah refugees
back into the city in the hopes that this will end the fighting that has
left many American soldiers dead and hundreds of US military vehicles
and great quantities of American equipment destroyed or captured.

Eyewitnesses also reported that the Americans had brought in units of
Iraqi puppet police from Baghdad to urge the local people to return to
al-Fallujah. Officers of the puppet police have begun chasing down
refugees of al-Fallujah, telling them, we want to end this damned war.

According to reports from witnesses, the Iraqi Resistance is not
opposing such moves leading to the return of the Iraqi citizens to their
homes in al-Fallujah, particularly as one Iraqi Resistance commander
called the Iraqi people the crown of the Resistance, after God the
Almighty. The refugees are now dying a slow death in the refugee camps
from the bitter cold to which they are exposed, and as a result, the
Resistance welcomes efforts to secure their return home.

Resistance blows up house in al-Fallujah, killing 24 American soldiers.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Fallujah reported
eyewitnesses as saying that about 24 US troops were killed when the
Resistance detonated explosives that blasted apart the house that they
were searching in the city. The Resistance had planted 500kg of TNT as
well as the high explosive Austrian bombs inside the house, located in
the al-Wahdah neighborhood. Resistance forces attracted the US forces
to the house by making them think that a number of fighters were
barricaded in it. The Resistance detonated the explosives in the 450
square meter building when the Americans had gone in to investigate.
The blast killed 24 American troops in addition to seven whose bodies
had not been extracted from the rubble when the correspondent submitted
his report, posted at 2:30pm Mecca time Tuesday (3:30pm local time).

Resistance pounds US al-Habbaniyah base.

At 10am Tuesday morning Iraqi Resistance force unleashed a rocket
barrage on the huge US base in al-Habbaniyah, near al-Fallujah.
Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that about 33 Ababil, Tariq, and
Grad rockets blasted into the US facility, destroying a large number of
fuel storage tanks. The tanks continued to burn for a long time after
the attack, according to the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent, whose
report was posted at 2:10pm Mecca time (3:10pm local time) Tuesday.

US helicopters took part in efforts to extinguish the roaring flames,
but in the process three helicopters crashed, one of them a Cobra.
Eight Resistance fighters perished when US aircraft attacked their
positions and destroyed their rocket launcher. The fire also set a park
three dunams in area ablaze in the al-Halabisah area not far from the camp.

Hit.

Mass raids and arrests in Hit, al-Baghdadi.

US forces arrested 14 Iraqi civilians Monday night on the pretext that
they were suspected of belinging to the Resistance. Mafkarat al-Islam
reported eyewitnesses as saying that the US troops arrested four Iraqis,
claiming that they had taken part in Resistance actions in the Hit area,
250km west of Baghdad.

US troops also arrested 10 other Iraqi civilians using the same excuse
in the al-Baghdadi area, about 200km west of Baghdad. Witnesses said
that the Americans fired percussion rockets and standard rockets into a
number of houses in Hit in the course of their raids in the area.

Seven puppet national guards killed in raid; US retaliates killing
four civilians.

Al-Qaim.

Resistance fighters down US F-16 fighter bomber with SAM missile.

Iraqi Resistance forces in al-Qaim on the Syrian border shot down a US
F-16 fighter bomber at about 6am Tuesday morning. Eyewitnesses told
Mafkarat al-Islam that the airplane was circling at a very low altitude,
breaking the sound barrier for a quarter of an hour, causing Resistance
fighters to target the American plane with a Surface-to-Air (SAM)
missile. The rocket hit the US plane in the rear, setting the plane on
fire.

At about 7am fighting broke out between the Resistance and the US

occupation troops in Iraq.

On Tuesday, however, Resistance forces targeted one of those
newly-arrived vehicles at 6:30am near the crossroads in the at-Tarimiyah
area north of Baghdad. Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the

The daughter of former Iraqi President Abd as-Salam Arif accused US
forces and their stooges of killing her sister and her husband and their

reports that tried to pin the crime on the Iraqi Resistance. She said
that US troops together with collaborationist Kurdish chauvinist
Peshmergah gunmen killed the couple and their son and then robbed their
house and tried to blame the Resistance for the murder.

Publications in Baghdad had reported on 18 December that Sana, the
daughter of former President Abd as-Salam Arif had been killed along
with her husband by unknown gunmen who attacked their home. The
publications claimed that the Iraqi puppet police had reported that the
attackers had also kidnapped the couples son, also named Abd as-Salam
Arif (22) during the attack and then wrote on the wall of the house
death to lackeys.

Neighbors of Sana Arif found her body and that of her husband after
the house had been ransacked and valuable items, including cars, had

Thirteen puppet police die in Resistance attack in Tikrit.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces attacked the
main Tigris [Dajlah] puppet police station in the Tigris neighborhood of
the city of Tikrit, north of Baghdad at 4am on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses
told the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam that the attack followed a
grace period in which the Resistance had refrained from attacking the
post in order to allow the puppet police to work on standard criminal
issues such as investigating robberies and breaking up fights.

But rather than stick to such civil activities, the puppet police took
part in a joint patrol with US occupation troops at 10pm Monday night,
arresting Shaykh Jamal Hammad, one of the imams and religious preachers
in Tikrit, on the charge that he was harboring fraternal Arab volunteer
fighters.

It was in response to this activity on behalf of the American occupation
that more than 40 Resistance fighters armed with RPG7 rockets and BKC
machine guns and light arms attacked the Tigris puppet police station,
killing 13 puppet policemen and nine puppet national guards. Also
wounded in the attack were eight puppet national guards. The
Resistance fighters also seized a large quantity of arms, ammunition,

which was written a quote from the Quran: In the name of God the
Merciful, the Mercy-giving. And we did no wrong to them, but they did
wrong to themselves.

Irbil.

S. Korean Jaitun (Zaytun) Unit in Iraq on Alert.

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- The Jaitun unit of south Korea deployed
in Iraq has been placed on alert as the Iraqi Resistance forces recently
threatened to launch a truck bomb attack on the unit, according to MBC
of south Korea. The south Korean military is much upset by this warning
as it was served soon after at least 80 US service personnel were killed
by those forces' mortar attack and missile strike at the US military
base near Mosul.

In this connection, the unit suspended all activities outside the base
except those for defending the facilty and banned the entry of outsiders
into the unit and their exit since December 23.

Note by Iraqi Resistance Report: The south Korean newspaper The Korea
Times reported on 24 December 2004 that the south Korean aggressor
contingent in Iraq, said to number 3,600 men, is the third largest
military contingent occupying the country after those of the United
States and Britain. This does not count a force of an estimated 20,000
mercenaries employed by the Pentagon. The mortar attack and missile
strike to which the KCNA dispatch above refers later turned out to be a
martyrdom truck bombing carried out by an Iraqi Resistance fighter.

Three Iranians reportedly caught trying to blow up oil pipelines in
al-Basrah.

Sources in the puppet police in al-Basrah have said that they arrested
three persons of Iranian nationality who were trying to blow up one of
the main pipelines in al-Basrah. Mafkarat al-Islam reported the puppet
police sources as saying that the three Iranians were found in the
possession of explosives.

The puppet police had kept the arrest secret for some time, while the
US-installed regime accused Syria with no evidence whatsoever of being
behind bombings in an-Najaf and Karbala. Mafkarat al-Islam reports
that Sunni Iraqis in al-Basrah believe that the reason for covering up
the Iranian connection might be related to the fact that the chief of
the puppet police, whose name is ash-Shahrasani, is of Iranian origin
himself and might well have sympathies in that direction.

The British Ministry of Defence announced on Tuesday that the dead body

into the US as-Suqur base south of Baghdad.

At about 11:15am Tuesday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired nine 120mm

a number of local citizens. US aircraft were sent up to prowl the skies
over the area as well.

Iraqi Resistance forces on Tuesday fired seven 82mm mortar rounds into
the British al-Mahawil base north of al-Hillah in southern Iraq, sending
thick smoke into the sky.
