Hawaii activity package

I'm gonna go to Hawaii in a couple of weeks, pretty excited now. I
checked a few websites, there are numerous activity tour packages
available, ie. Polynesian culture/Luau package, Majestic Grand Island
tour, Pearl Harbor, etc.
Do I need to book those packages now or wait untill I arrive there and
book locally. I prefer to book them when i arrive at the hotel, in that
I could have a more flexible schedule. Do most of hotels offer those
travel assistance? Any package would you like to recommend? Any tips
about those tour packages will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Hawaii activity package

You can usually book when you get there. Some hotels offer discounts.
You can get some discounts online prior to traveling. I always buy an
Entertainment book for Hawaii - www.entertainment.com. It includes
many 2 for 1 deals for dining out and discounts for activities, car
rentals and hotel rooms.

Enjoy your trip!

We were in Hawaii in June/July of 2003. We waited to buy Pearl Harbor
tickets and they were sold out. We were told that this happens frequently.
You might want to check into that early.

We booked our tours on arrival, but we also used a rental car for
Pearl Harbor and our own island tour. Many of the larger hotels
have a tour-travel desk that can book these for you, but you may
want to compare their price against what you've found yourself. [R]

Re: Hawaii activity package

folks, thanks a lot for your reply. I have another question.
We are gonna fly and stay in Maui for a couple of days on this trip. I
was thinking about renting a car for sightseeing. But after I read the
AAA travel book, i'm not sure if it is a good idea. It seems like those
roads to Hana and Haleakala are really tricky and there are even some
restrictions on rental car. I am wondering if I should simply take
those tour packages (ie. like Heavenly Hana Adventure, Haleakala
Morning Tour by Roberts Hawaii).
Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance
