What are good hotels/hostels/b&bs to stay in Berkeley, CA?

I am visiting Berkeley, CA from Wednesday, January 5th to Saturday,
January 8th. Does anyone know a good place to stay? I am concerned
primarily with the place being a)QUIET b)clean c)private bathroom d)as
close to the UC Berkeley campus as possible. I can afford to pay a
little extra, but I'd like to keep it to no more than $150 a night if
possible.

You might try staying on-campus.

http://www.berkeleyfacultyclub.com/

I don't see anything that indicates that you need to be affiliated with
the University to make a reservation, but I'll admit I've never tried.
(You do need a credit card.)

It should be quiet (students will be gone, and it is actually in the
campus, so a bit away from the city noise), it's also been clean when we
have had guests stay there, you can get a private bathroom, and, as I
said, it's on-campus.

For $95 you can get a basic room with a private bath. For a bit more you
can have a deck and a fireplace.

It is not what I would consider a full-service hotel, but it's been fine
for visitors we have brought in for short stays.

If all else fails, you might try the Berkeley City Club,
<http://berkeleycityclub.com/>, formerly the Berkeley Woman's Club.
It's a cuppla blocks from Sather Gate. Good food. Not cheap.
