Don't be telling that shit to union men, Indians don't take our jobs,
they jobs from people like Osama.

Our union leaders give our jobs to illegal Mexicans.

Re: Labor unions are just a bunch of LAZY workers !!!!!

It is ridiculous to say that unions are for lazy individuals if you
just think about it for a minute. In the construction industry if you
are non-union you are making about half of what a union worker makes.
So if you think you are as good as a union worker you would logically
want the highest pay and benefits available. Thats where we get many
of our members. They come to the union for the top wages which they
deserve. Not everybody can cut the mustard when the wages are high.
Lots of guys don't make the grade and go back to non-union work but
they know the difference. They know that the demands of the job are
much higher than what they are able to give or are willing to give.
The same construction managers who pick apart union contractors work
and demand perfection from them will let non-union companies get away
with screw up after screw up because to make them fix it would be an
admission that they chose a second rate contractor. It would also take
money out of their pockets to fire the bums and hire a qualified union
company to do it right.
The union companies and workers are held up to a higher standard and
thats OK because we hold ourselves to a higher standard.
But don't call us lazy. We have to produce good work and plenty of it
to command the highest wages in the industry.

I guess that's why there's union workers sitting in toolboths in EZ pass
lanes watching cars go by. Or why a union carpenter can't rewire an
electrical socket.

Re: Labor unions are just a bunch of LAZY workers !!!!!

I'm sure it makes perfect sense to you to have a carpenter do your
electrical work. You might want to hire a plumber to lay the stones in
front of your house while the landscapers do the framing and the
painters put down the carpets. You are really not too smart are you
OBK??
If you think the toll collecters have such easy jobs why don't you quit
your scab job and try to get some of that easy money. Because you
could not cut the mustard that's why.

And your point is? Only an untrained scab like you would even consider having
his house wired by a carpenter. What IS the matter with you anyway?

My point is that union members are overpaid and lazy. FYI, hooking up a
light socket does not demand skills unique to an electrician. Nor does
changing a light bulb or any number of oter tasks which a normal person
could do but the union won;t let that person do because it's not written
in their job description.

Actually, I am smart enough to realize that for most of the simple stuff
done by construction unions, just about anyone who has basic
intelligence could do the job just as well. The problem is that the
union files a grievance if a carpenter so much as touches a switch.

Well, I make way more than a toll collector. The only reason I couldn't
cut it as a toll collector is because doing nothing but watching cars
all day gets really boring.

If you ever visit an auto assembly plant you would see the
mind-numbing performance of the assemblers. It doesn't require much
intelligence to install left rear wheels day after day for years. I
believe that in my working years I would have committed suicide before
submitting to such a degrading position.

And yet many would do the job with the proper pay and benefits in order to
make a good living. If a job needs doing and returns a profit for the
employer, then the employed should share in that profit. I expect a few
morons to jump in and try to use semantics to tell me profits are untouchable
by employees as the sacred cow of investors or some other tripe, but the
simple truth is their would be no profit without somebody doing some of those
"degrading" jobs.

Re: Labor unions are just a bunch of LAZY workers !!!!!

There is nothing degrading about honest work. I think a lot of factory
jobs can be boring but I would not call them degrading. It is really a
challenge to do those kinds of jobs really well after years and years.
When you jump into a new car do you think you are a real cool guy or
do you think these guys make a hell of a car.

Labor unions are better defined as third party parasites to commercial
enterprise who, but for the cash flows to politicians and the resultant
interest of law makers to protect that cash-cow, would be
otherwise unsustainable.

Re: Labor unions are just a bunch of LAZY workers !!!!!

I would be more inclined to call the greedy corporations which have
stripped the natural resources of dozens of countries the parasites.
When the workers unite to get their just wages and benefits they are
kind of like the founding fathers. The labor unions are made up of the
workers. How can that be considered a "third party"?

I am not too comfortable with this murph, in my opinion, relying on union members having better wages and conditions to support labor idealogy will only work IF the number of non-union labor is rendered insignificant. Union officials and activists, should realise that there is a war on, against organised labor, effectively meaning all citizens This has always been the case but the current situation is serious. I KNOW many existing non-union workers are hoping for the day that they can join in union with other workers but are scared. Union officials and activists need to put more effort into recruiting these non-union workers, in their current jobs. That would mean leaving the comfort zones of safe union workplaces and moving into the lions den, so to speak.

>will let non-union companies get away with screw up after >screw up because to make them fix it would be an admission that they chose a
>second rate contractor.

I wouldn't rely too much on that either murph, employers will use non-union labor, even if it costs more in the the short term, for one reason and one reason alone, political orientation.

These employers and their supporters, are our philosophical enemies, just as real as any other enemy on any other battlefield.
